Can These 6 Tablets Take Down the iPad? -

Highly unlikely.

Why You’ll Pay to Watch Ads on the iPhone and iPad -

If the idea of spending any of your precious data budget on ads really rankles you, by the way, you do have a choice. Either make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi connection before you click, or go completely offline, and you won’t see the iAds at all.

GoodReader is Bringing Syncing Back -

One of the “hidden gems” of GoodReader is that it’s not just a reader, but will allow you to download just about any file to your iPhone or iPad by pasting in the URL. You can use it for downloading PDFs and then sending them to iBooks on the iPad.

I was visiting Apple stores when the iPad shipped (in disguise, of course) and I saw, with my own eyes, and heard, with my own ears, a woman say to a salestard, “Why does this one cost more than this one?” And the salestard had to explain that one had more gigabytes which meant it could store more movies and music. Then the woman said, “And do I need to get a contract with AT&T?”

This was the first week of product shipment, when we were only shipping WiFi-only devices. Ahem. In nearly every board meeting I attend, multiple iPads are unfurled. In a recent board meeting, after every VC in the room pulled out his iPad 3G in matching black Apple case, one of the entrepreneurs in the room noted, “I take it the iPad is the new board room toy of choice.”

Indeed, it is.

Apple's iPad passes Google Android in total browser usage share -

More people are browsing the Web via an iPad than on an Android-powered device, according to new monthly browser usage data from one analytics firm.

Ninety-eight percent say they’re satisfied with their iPads overall; ninety-six percent think it’s a good value. In category after category–3G service, most of the individual bundled apps, battery life, speed, the absence of Flash–a majority of respondents are pleased.

In only one major area did unhappy campers dominate: A majority aren’t pleased with Apple’s App Store approval process. More than half also wish Apple had given the tablet printing capabilities, a memory-card slot, and a front-facing camera.
